Managing apps for tenant and analytics administrators

If you are a tenant or analytics admin, you can move apps between managed spaces, or between self-managed (personal or shared) spaces, change owner of apps, and delete apps.

Apps overview

The Apps page in the Management Console consists of the following tabs: Source, Published, and Staged.

Each tab displays a table with the following app properties: app name, app ID, app owner, space where the app is published, size, description, and date for last update. Size refers to the base memory footprint of the app. You can sort on Name and Last updated, and filter on Name, Owner and Space.

Source

Source contains apps that are in personal or shared spaces. As a tenant or analytics admin, you can perform the following actions on these apps:

  • Delete
  • Change space
  • Change owner

Published

Published contains apps that are in managed spaces. As a tenant or analytics admin, you can perform the following actions on these apps:

  • Delete
  • Change space

Staged

Staged contains apps that do not have an owner and do not belong to a space. Staged apps are only visible for tenant admins and analytics admins. As a tenant or analytics admin, you can perform the following actions on these apps:

  • Delete
  • Set space

Changing owner of an app

As a tenant or analytics admin, you can change owner of an app from the Source tab.

Do the following:

  1. In the Management Console, on the Source tab of the Apps page, select one or more apps.
  2. In the top right corner, click Change owner.
  3. In the Change owner dialog, select the user to whom you want to assign ownership of the app. Click Apply.

Changing space of an app

As a tenant or analytics admin, you can change the space that an app belongs to.

Do the following:

  1. In the Management Console, on either of the Source or Published tabs of the Apps page, select one or more apps.
  2. In the top right corner, click Change space.
  3. In the Change space dialog, select the space to which you want to move the app. Click Apply.

    Information noteIf you are changing the space of an app, you might need elevated privileges. If you do, select the Get elevated privileges check box before clicking Apply.

    Elevated privileges are needed if you are not the owner of the app or if you do not have Can manage permission for the space the app belongs to or the space the app is moved to. The elevated privileges are restored as soon as the change space action has been performed.

Setting the space for a staged app

As a tenant or analytics admin, you can set the space for staged apps.

Do the following:

  1. In the Management Console, on the Staged tab of the Apps page, select one or more apps.
  2. In the top right corner, click Set space.
  3. In the Select space dialog, select the space to which you want to add the app. Click Apply.

Deleting an app

As a tenant or analytics admin, you can delete apps.

Do the following:

  1. In the Management Console, on any of the tabs of the Apps page, select one or more apps.
  2. In the top right corner, click Delete.
