Export Applications
The Export Applications step retrieves application assets from the Qlik Sense Client-Managed environment and exports their .qvf
files to the project's Exported Apps
folder on the server. This process includes associated metadata such as sheets, bookmarks, and stories.
Prerequisite steps
There are no prerequisite steps for this migration step.
Step details
-
Retrieval method:
Applications are selected from the plan and pulled directly from the source environment via the Qlik Repository Service (QRS) APIs. -
Scope:
All chosen apps in the plan will be exported. Export behavior can be configured under the Export Scope field in the cloud table in the plan. There are 3 options:- All (default) — Export public, community, and private sheets.
- Published — Export public and community sheets only.
- Approved — Export public sheets only.
-
Export modes:
- With Data: Exports the application including its data model.
- Without Data: Exports only the application structure. These apps can later be reloaded in Qlik Cloud using the Reload Applications step.
-
Output location:
Files are saved to:Qlik Analytics Migration Tool\Migration Projects\<PROJECT>\Exported Apps
Notes
- Exporting with data is useful for preserving the app's current state, especially if the source environment will become unavailable during migration.
- Exporting without data is more lightweight and allows reloading in the target environment using updated or cloud-native data connections.
- Qlik Sense November 2022 or later is required for migrating community and private sheets. If the Qlik Sense version is earlier than November 2022, all sheets set to be migrated must be converted to public sheets prior to running this step.
