Update Application Owners

The Update Application Owners step retrieves all applications from the migration plan and updates their ownership in the Qlik Cloud tenant based on the metadata defined in the plan.

Prerequisite steps

  • Import Applications
  • Import Users (optional)

Step details

  • Retrieval method:
Applications are identified using the embedded app description set during the Import Applications step.

  • Ownership update:

    • Each application's owner is reassigned to the user defined in the migration plan.
    • If the target owner does not exist in Qlik Cloud, the ownership change is skipped for that application.

Notes

  • Ownership changes only take effect if the user exists in the tenant at execution time.
  • This step is particularly useful when the migration includes reassigning apps across business units or ownership roles.
  • Space role assigments may also be changed by app ownership. If a user owns an app but does not have the required assignment in the space, their space role will be auto-elevated. For shared spaces, the user will be assigned the Can edit role, and for managed spaces, will be assigned the Can manage role. The Access Evaluator monitoring app can be used to confirm user permissions.
