Users
The Users section of the Migration Steps includes all steps that concern the migration of user metadata between Qlik Sense Client-Managed and Qlik Cloud. Ensuring that users are properly migrated is critical for maintaining ownership, permissions, and object-level access throughout the migration process.
Retrieval method in Qlik Cloud
Users in Qlik Cloud are uniquely identified by their email address. During migration, user references in the plan are resolved by matching these email addresses with accounts in the Qlik Cloud tenant.
The Export Users step generates a userMappings.json file that contains mapping between the source (Qlik Sense Client-Managed) user and the target (Qlik Cloud) user. This mapping is used by downstream steps such as assigning space roles, transferring application ownership, and migrating sheets.
Notes
- Qlik Cloud does not allow the creation of users via external tools. Users must already exist by having logged in, being invited, or provisioned via identity providers.
- If a user referenced in the plan does not exist in the Qlik Cloud tenant, operations such as ownership updates or assignments will be skipped without failure.
