Creating and configuring the tenant

Once you register for your subscription, you can create and configure the tenant. A tenant is a unit in the software subscription service from Qlik, a container for items such as users, apps, and spaces.

Information note

Only the service account owner can create the tenant. If you need to change the service account owner, contact Qlik Support or create a support case from the Support Case Portal. For more information, see Qlik Cloud Services: Service Account Owner and Tenant Admin FAQ.

Once you receive your welcome email, you will need to log in to activate your account, and then create and configure your tenant.

Tip note If you did not receive an email, you can also create your tenant by logging in to My Qlik. Log in from My Qlik portal or go to Qlik.com and select Log In > Qlik Cloud. For more information, see How to Create a Tenant from My Qlik Portal.

Do the following:

  1. Click the Let's get started button in the email that you received from Qlik.
  2. On the Set up your account page, set a password in Create password. Check the box to indicate that you have read and accept the Qlik terms and conditions, and click Next.
  3. On the Almost finished page, choose a Region.

Selecting the appropriate region to store your data ensures optimal performance. The region will be part of your URL. The default region is selected based on the region that is closest to your location. You can select a different region, but you can’t change region once you have completed the tenant setup.

    Information note

Anonymous access tenants can only be created in the Sweden region. If you are not creating an anonymous access tenant, you cannot select the Sweden region.

    The following regions are available:

Region name Region code Backup region name Backup region code
US East (North Virginia) us-east-1 US East (Ohio) us-east-2
Europe (Ireland) eu-west-1 Europe (Paris) eu-west-3
Europe (London) eu-west-2 Europe (Spain) eu-south-2
Europe (Frankfurt) eu-central-1 Europe (Milan) eu-south-1
    Europe (Sweden) eu-north-1 N/A N/A
    Asia-Pacific (Singapore) ap-southeast-1 Asia Pacific (Seoul) ap-northeast-2
    Asia-Pacific (Sydney) ap-southeast-2 Asia-Pacific (Melbourne) ap-southeast-4
Japan (Tokyo) ap-northeast-1 Japan (Osaka) ap-northeast-3
India (Mumbai) ap-south-1 India (Hyderabad) ap-south-2

To request data from data connections through a firewall, you need to add the underlying IP addresses for your region to your allowlist. For more information, see Allowlisting domain names and IP addresses.

  4. Click Finish.

Information noteThere is a maximum number of tenants that you can create in a region. Contact Qlik Sales to manage your user account.
Warning noteFor OEM and Enterprise external use deployments, each end customer should be deployed to their own Qlik Cloud tenant. Using a single tenant for all end customers may result in a user having access to visibility of all other users within the same tenant - such visibility may include (but may not be limited to): user names, email addresses and the user’s subject, which is a unique string used to identify the user that is provided to Qlik Cloud by the configured Identity Provider.

Next steps

Once you create the tenant, you can invite users and assign tenant admins. As the service account owner, you automatically become the first tenant admin when you create the tenant.

When inviting users, you can use an existing IdP, or you can use the Qlik Account. In Qlik Sense Business or Qlik Cloud Analytics Standard you can only use Qlik Account.

For more information about inviting users and assigning tenant admins, see:

Warning noteIMPORTANT: If your organization wants to use its own customer managed key (CMK) to encrypt tenant data, you can configure tenant encryption to use a CMK from a supported key provider. For more information, see Tenant encryption.
Information noteIf you have multiple tenants associated with the same license, make sure they all use the same IdP, otherwise users risk duplicated license assignments.

Anonymous access

An anonymous access tenant allows users to view specific Qlik analytics content without needing a registered account. This feature is ideal for temporary access to non-sensitive data, such as sharing and embedding this data on a company website or with external partners and clients. Administrators retain full control over access permissions.

Anonymous access is materialized through a link or an embedded snippet of code, allowing users to access your Qlik Sense app without authentication. Administrators determine who has this access and the duration of the access.

Prerequisites to use anonymous access:

If you will not be sharing Qlik analytics with public or external audiences, other Qlik Cloud subscription offerings might be better suited to your use cases. For more information about the different options, see Planning your Qlik Cloud deployment.
