Qlik Cloud capacity-based subscriptions

A Qlik Cloud instance is a combination of the Analytics and Data Integration platform services. You can use them together or independently.

  • Qlik Cloud Analytics is a hosted analytics platform that empowers everyone in your organization to make data-driven decisions. It supports use-cases across the life cycle from data to insight: self-service analytics, interactive dashboards, conversational analytics, custom and embedded analytics, mobile analytics, reporting, and alerting.

  • Qlik Cloud Data Integration is a hosted and managed Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS). It provides the ability to create data pipelines to perform a variety of data integration tasks. You can leverage real-time, log-based change data capture with secure connection to on-premises data sources behind firewalls or use full load capabilities for SaaS data sources.

The capacity-based subscriptions for Qlik Cloud Analytics and Qlik Cloud Data Integration are based on a capacity model with data volume as the primary value meter. You can choose subscription options from three tiers: Standard, Premium, and Enterprise. The higher Analytics editions offer more analytics capabilities, and the higher Data Integration editions provide more advanced data sources and transformations. Qlik Cloud Enterprise includes the highest editions of Qlik Cloud Analytics and Qlik Cloud Data Integration. You can combine different editions to suit your needs, such as combining Data Integration Standard with Analytics Premium.

Qlik Cloud subscriptions

Subscription options.

Subscriptions for only Analytics give you access to Qlik Cloud Data Integration for creating QVD files in a Qlik Cloud data platform. The QVD files can be used in analytics apps.

All editions of Qlik Cloud Data Integration include related Qlik Cloud capabilities, such as Qlik Sense, Application Automation, and AutoML.

For more information on what is included in each subscription option, see Qlik Cloud Analytics subscription options and Qlik Cloud Data Integration subscription options.

Value meters

Qlik Cloud subscriptions are based on a capacity model with data volume as the primary value meter. For Qlik Cloud Analytics Standard, the value meter is the number of Full Users. The value meters are described in detail in Subscription value meters.

You select an edition and then subscribe to the data capacity you need. Determine how much data you have and what percentage of that data you will analyze or move with Qlik Cloud. Subscribe to packs of Data for Analysis for Qlik Cloud Analytics or Data Moved for Qlik Cloud Data Integration. For the Enterprise edition, you can choose to subscribe to Data for Analysis or Data Moved, or both.

Administrators can monitor consumption of user entitlements, data capacity, and other consumption-based resources in the Management Console. The service account owner can see the usage for the whole license in My Qlik. For more information, see Monitoring resource consumption and My Qlik portal. You can drill further into the usage data with an app that provides a detailed view of the consumption. For more information, see Monitoring usage with detailed consumption reports.

Capacities, guardrails, and capabilities

All the Qlik Cloud subscription options provide the same speed, performance, and availability. They share the same user interface, hub, and Management Console on Qlik Cloud. However, the editions have different capacity limits and capabilities.

As an administrator, you can see capacity consumption as well as enabled capabilities and their guardrails in the Management Console.

Capacities

Capacities determine how much of a resource you can consume. Some capacities are fixed, such as the number of parallel reloads. Other capacities are consumption-based and measured per time unit, such as data capacity, app reloads, or generated reports per month. Capacity consumption is counted across all tenants within a Qlik Cloud license. For example, if tenant A consumes 200 reloads and tenant B consumes 100 reloads, and the two tenants are part of the same license, the total consumed capacity is 300 reloads.

Guardrails

Guardrails are hard limits on capacities. They can block excessive usage if a specific capacity metric reaches a critical level. Guardrails can be used to ensure Qlik Cloud performance and stability, for example, by limiting parallel reloads to avoid extensive load. Some of the guardrails are negotiable on a per customer basis for the Enterprise edition of Qlik Cloud Analytics. There are no negotiable guardrails for Qlik Cloud Data Integration.

Capabilities

Capabilities are features in Qlik Cloud such as managed spaces, Reporting, or Application Automation. Your subscription determines which capabilities you can use and their respective guardrails. For example, your subscription might include automations with a limit of running 10 automations concurrently.

Overage

Overage can occur when the actual usage of a resource exceeds the purchased capacity limit. Overage allows continued access to Qlik Cloud without interruption. You can continue using the resource until the consumption reaches 10 times the purchased capacity limit. All metrics are measured for overage consumption. The consumption is calculated on a monthly basis and overage is reported accordingly. Overage is billed monthly based on the overage pricing described in the Terms and Conditions.

When you are you are near and above a capacity limit (at 90%, 95%, and 100% of the limit), notifications are shown in the Management Console. The service account owner will be notified by email and contacted by Qlik to follow up on the need for add-ons or upgrades.

Overage consumption is allowed for Data for Analysis, Data Moved, automation runs, and generated reports. It is not allowed in the following cases:

  • AutoML deployed models

The tier included in your Qlik Cloud subscription includes a defined maximum number of deployed models that can be created across all tenants created within the license. This consumption limit is defined per model, meaning that multiple ML deployments created from a single model count as a single deployed model. If you have reached the maximum number of deployed models, delete one or more existing deployed models or upgrade the subscription to a higher tier.

  • Full Users

If you invite a user when there are no more entitlements available in your subscription, the user will get status Requested and doesn't have access to the hub or apps. For more information, see Managing users in status Requested.

  • Guardrails

Some of the guardrails (fixed capacity limits) are negotiable on a per customer basis with the Enterprise edition, such as app size, reload frequency, and reload concurrency. These capacities don't allow overage consumption.

  • Data for Analysis for Qlik Cloud Analytics Standard

The Standard edition of Qlik Cloud Analytics has a fixed capacity. If you reach the capacity limit, you will not be able to import and reload apps or add data files. You can delete apps and data files to get below the limit again or upgrade your subscription.
