Mandatory email notifications
Last updated: 9/9/2026About mandatory notifications
Mandatory notifications are enabled automatically for users who meet the required permission conditions. They provide visibility into task execution and wasted capacity when a task might continue running without a known engine status. Users cannot disable these notifications from the Profile preferences page.
In the user interface, a mandatory notification remains selected and its checkbox is unavailable. The API also rejects requests to change a mandatory notification.
Request a notification change
To request that a mandatory notification be disabled for your account, contact Qlik Support. Include the following information:
- Your account.
- The reason for the request, including an example of the notification behavior.
Notification scope
Mandatory notification recipients depend on the permissions for the affected space. For example, the notification about tasks running on an unavailable engine is sent to users with the required permissions for that space. It is sent once per engine and space, and lists all affected tasks for that combination.
Types of mandatory notifications
The following table presents the types of mandatory notifications, their behaviors, and the corresponding permissions.
| Name | Description | Required permissions |
|---|---|---|
| Task has been running for 24 hours | An email notification is sent when a task (for data integration Jobs including big data, or pipelines) has been running for more than 24 hours and may require attention. The notification is sent per space and repeats every 24 hours until the task completes or is stopped. Data Service and Route tasks are not included. |
|
| Task ran but Engine is not available | An email notification is sent when a task is pending or running on an
engine whose status is unknown to Talend Management Console. The notification applies to Talend Remote Engine and Dynamic Engine. A single email lists all affected tasks for each engine and space, and is sent once. It does not repeat, and no all-clear email is sent. Check the current task and engine status in Talend Management Console. The email subject is Warning: Tasks running on unavailable engine. The email identifies the engine by ID. To retrieve engine details, see the Get remote engine by ID endpoint. |
