Installing the connectors - Windows

The Qlik SAP Connectors installation package (QlikSAP_x64Setup.exe) includes all the SAP Connectors. The installation package also includes other required files that are copied to the connector file structure in Windows.

The package must be installed on systems running Qlik Sense or QlikView, either an SAP system client computer, or the SAP system server.

The installation package must also be installed on all client computers that will use the SAP Connectors. Those computers must also be running Qlik Sense or QlikView.

The transports must be imported on all systems that will use the SAP Connectors.

Prerequisites

In addition to the QlikView and Qlik Sense requirements noted on SAP NetWeaver Connector, each of the individual connectors have the following requirements:

  • SQL Connector - SAP BASIS system 7.31 - 7.5x
  • Query Connector - SAP BASIS system 7.31 - 7.5x
  • Report Connector - SAP BASIS system 7.31 - 7.5x
  • BEx Connector - SAP BASIS system 7.31 - 7.5x
  • InfoProvider Connector - SAP BASIS system 7.31 - 7.5x
  • OLAP Connector - SAP BW/NetWeaver BI 7.31- 7.5x
  • DSO/ODS Connector - SAP BW/NetWeaver BI 7.31 - 7.5x
  • Extractor Connector - SAP BASIS system 7.31 - 7.5x

Information noteBW/4HANA systems must be connected via ODP technology. This means that the Extractor connector cannot be used with BW/4HANA systems.
  • BAPI Connector - SAP BASIS system 7.31 - 7.5x
Information note If there is a firewall between the connector and the SAP system, port 33nn has to be open. nn = system number of the SAP system.

Installing the connectors

Do the following:

  1. Double-click the QlikSAP_x64Setup.exe file.

The Qlik Connectors installation wizard starts.

  2. Select I agree… and then click Install.

  3. If User Account Control (UAC) is disabled, the installation starts.

If UAC is enabled, the User Account Control dialog is displayed.

  4. Click Yes to start the installation.

  5. When the installation has completed, click Close.
  6. Restart all of the Qlik Sense Services if the installation is on a Qlik Sense system.

The SAP Connector is not available in Qlik Sense until all the services are restarted.

Downloading and installing the SAP Libraries

If you are installing SAP Connector package 8.0.2 or later, you need to download the following two prerequisite SAP Libraries. They are used by the Qlik SAP Connectors for communicating with the SAP Systems.

Do the following:

  1. Log into the SAP Support Portal with an S-user ID.

  2. Go to SAP Connector for Microsoft .NET and search for: SAP Connector for Microsoft .NET, 64-bit, version 3.1 or later.

This library is used by the Connectors with file extension .exe and contains sapnco.dll and sapnco_utils.dll.

  3. Download these library files. Double-click the SapNCox64Setup.exe file.

The installation wizard starts and the files are installed in Global Assembly Cache (GAC).

Information noteIf you are upgrading from SAP Connector version 8.0 or later, the following steps can be skipped if the .dll library files are already available in: C:\Program Files\Common Files\QlikTech\externals
  4. Go back to the SAP Support Portal and search for: SAP NW RFC SDK, 64-bit, version 7.50 or later.

This library is used by the legacy connectors with file extension .dll.

  5. Download and unzip the library. The library contains the following files:

    • icudt50.dll

    • icuin50.dll

    • icuuc50.dll

    • libsapucum.dll

    • sapnwrfc.dll

  6. Place the files in this folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\QlikTech\externals

Connector installation folder locations

The different parts of the connector are installed in different places in the Windows folder structure. The folder for the program installation is:

QlikView: C:\Program Files\Common Files\QlikTech\Custom Data\

Qlik Sense: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Qlik\Custom Data\

Information note When using Qlik Sense Desktop with a storage location other than the SAP connector location, then the SAP connector folders must be copied to C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Local\Programs\Qlik\Sense\Connectors\.

The folder for licenses is:

C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Custom Data\QvSAPConnector

For QlikView, the ScriptBuilder is also contained in this folder.

The folder for the Network Server logs is:

C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Custom Data\QvSAPConnector\Log

The folder for the Extractor Connector logs is:

C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Custom Data\QvSAPConnector\Log

The folders for the other connector logs are, where the ellipsis (...) is the connector name (for example, QvSAPInfoProviderConnector or QvSAPSqlConnector):

QlikView: C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Custom Data\QvSAP...Connector\Log

Qlik Sense: C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Custom Data\QvSAP...Connector\Log

Check the version of the installed release

The release version of the SAP connector package can be checked by using the ‘About’ option available when creating the connection. If the release version is not correct, manually delete all QvSAP sub folders in:

QlikView: C:\Program Files\Common Files\QlikTech\Custom Data

Qlik Sense: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Qlik\Custom Data

Uninstall the Qlik Connector for SAP from in the Windows Control Panel. Then install the correct version of the connector.

Create and maintain an SAP user ID

Create one or more SAP users that will be used for back-end jobs for Qlik and for administrative tasks in SAP. These users are not intended as Qlik end-users, so only a limited number of SAP users should be created. Creating multiple users increases traceability and enables you to give them different authorizations.

Do the following:

  1. In the SAP system, go to transaction SU01.

  2. Click Create (F8).

  3. Give the user a name and a password.

Information noteBlank space and the following symbols cannot be used in user names or passwords:
    • ";" does not work in QlikView.
    • "%", "=", "\" do not work in Qlik Sense.
  4. On the Logon data tab, assign the user to User Type: Service.

  5. Click Save.

If the installation is an upgrade from a previous version and any of the roles have been updated, update all users assigned to the role:

  1. Go to transaction PFCG.

  2. Enter the role name and click Change Role.

  3. On the User tab, enter the name of the user(s) created above.

  4. Click User comparison.

  5. Click Complete comparison.

  6. Click Save.

After SAP user IDs have been created, each of the Qlik Connectors for SAP can be configured.
