The glossary defines key terms used throughout the QV2QS documentation.

| Adjustments Required | A conversion outcome indicating that the object exists in the Qlik Sense app but requires manual configuration changes after the build. No rebuild is needed. |
| Accumulation modifier | A Qlik Sense measure modifier that computes running totals. QV2QS converts QlikView measure accumulation (full or step-based) to Qlik Sense accumulation modifiers with rewritten RangeSum()/Above() expressions. See Accumulation in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Alternate state | A named selection state in QlikView or Qlik Sense that allows objects to show data from independent filter contexts. QV2QS preserves alternate state assignments during conversion. See Using alternate states for comparative analysis in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Alternative dimensions/measures | Dimensions or measures in a Qlik Sense visualization that are not active by default but are available for the user to swap in at runtime. QV2QS moves excess fields to the alternatives collection when a QlikView object exceeds the target visualization limits. See Changing the data of a visualization in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Automation score | Percentage of in-scope objects that converted automatically without manual follow-up. |
| Binary load | A QlikView/Qlik Sense load script statement that copies the entire data model from another app file. QV2QS uses automatic binary load to populate data in the converted app. See Binary in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Build | The process of assembling converted JSON files into a Qlik Sense app on a Qlik Cloud tenant using the bundled qlik-cli tool. |
| Build coverage | Percentage of in-scope objects that produce an object in the Qlik Sense app (auto-converted + adjustments + placeholders). A build coverage below 100% indicates errors that prevented object creation. |
| Button strip | A row of navigation buttons generated by QV2QS when converting multi-tab QlikView containers using the pseudo-tabs strategy. Each button sets a variable that controls which tab content is visible on the same sheet. |
| Calculation condition | An expression on a QlikView or Qlik Sense visualization that must evaluate to true before the object calculates and displays data. QV2QS preserves calculation conditions for supported visualization types. See Chart Properties in QlikView help. |
| Cyclic group | A QlikView dimension group that allows the user to cycle through a set of fields within a single dimension slot. QV2QS converts cyclic groups to cyclic master dimensions in Qlik Sense. See Cyclic dimensions in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Drill-down group | A QlikView dimension group that presents fields in a hierarchy, allowing the user to drill from a summary level to a detail level. QV2QS converts drill-down groups to drill-down master dimensions in Qlik Sense. See Drill-down groups in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Dynamic grid | The default Qlik Sense responsive layout mode. Objects are positioned on a flexible grid that adapts to different screen sizes. See Changing sheet layouts in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Fixed canvas | A layout mode that preserves exact QlikView pixel positions. Objects are placed at absolute coordinates within a scrollable canvas. See Changing sheet layouts in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Hypercube | The Qlik Sense data structure that defines dimensions, measures, sorting, and calculation conditions for a visualization. See Hypercube in Qlik Sense for developers help. |
| Layout container | A Qlik Sense object that holds one or more child visualizations within a defined region on a sheet. QV2QS uses layout containers to apply show conditions to individual objects. See Layout container in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Overflow resolution | The process QV2QS uses when a QlikView object has more dimensions or measures than the target Qlik Sense visualization type allows. Excess fields are moved to the alternatives collection or the chart type is changed. |
| Placeholder | A text object created by QV2QS when a QlikView object type cannot be converted. The placeholder preserves the object position and displays a message identifying the original type. |
| PRJ folder | A set of XML and text files that QlikView Desktop exports when saving a document in project format. QV2QS reads the PRJ folder as the primary input for conversion and uses the bundled QlikView Desktop engine to generate PRJ folders automatically from QVW or QVF files. | Pseudo-tabs | A conversion strategy for multi-tab QlikView containers. QV2QS generates a button strip and variable-driven show conditions to simulate tab switching on a single Qlik Sense sheet. Each button sets a variable that controls which tab content is visible. |
| QSECM | Qlik Sense Enterprise Client-Managed. The on-premises version of Qlik Sense, as distinct from Qlik Cloud. QV2QS targets Qlik Cloud as the primary deployment platform. See Comparing Qlik Sense Client-Managed to Qlik Cloud in Migration Center help. |
| qlik-cli | The Qlik command-line tool for interacting with Qlik Cloud. QV2QS bundles qlik-cli internally for app creation, media upload, and deployment. See qlik-cli overview on the Qlik Developer Portal. |
| qlik-cli context | A named authentication configuration that stores a Qlik Cloud tenant URL and API key. QV2QS manages contexts through the --setupQlikAuth argument. See Get started with qlik-cli on the Qlik Developer Portal. |
| QVD | QlikView Data file. A binary file format used by QlikView and Qlik Sense for optimized data storage and loading. See QVD files in Qlik Cloud help. |
| QVF | App file format shared by Qlik Sense and QlikView 12.70+. QV2QS accepts QlikView-created QVF files as source input and can export converted apps as QVF files using the --exportQvf argument. Qlik Sense QVF files are not valid source inputs and are excluded automatically during file selection and batch scanning. See Exporting apps in Qlik Cloud help. |
| QVW | QlikView document file format. The primary input format for QV2QS conversion. See Getting Hold of a QlikView Document in QlikView help. |
| Readiness score | A weighted score estimating how close the converted app is to production-ready, accounting for the effort required for each conversion outcome category. |
| Set analysis quoting | A difference in how QlikView and Qlik Sense interpret single-quoted values in set modifiers. QlikView (before November 2017) treated single quotes as case-insensitive searches. Qlik Sense treats single quotes as case-sensitive literals. QV2QS scans expressions for patterns affected by this difference and reports findings in the Expression_Findings worksheet. See Set analysis in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Section Access | A QlikView/Qlik Sense feature for row-level data security. QV2QS does not modify Section Access blocks in the load script. Syntax differences between QlikView and Qlik Sense require manual adjustment. See Managing data security with Section Access in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Show condition | A QlikView expression that controls whether an object is visible. QV2QS converts show conditions into layout container wrappers in Qlik Sense. See Styling sheets in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Space | A Qlik Cloud organizational unit for apps, data, and access control. QV2QS can deploy apps to a shared space using the --spaceId argument on the command line. See Working in spaces in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Tabbed container | A Qlik Sense container visualization (sn-tabbed-container) where each child object appears in a separate tab. QV2QS converts standalone multi-tab QlikView containers into tabbed containers. See Tab container in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Trellis container | A Visualization Bundle extension (qlik-trellis-container) that displays a grid of identical charts, one for each value of a faceting dimension. QV2QS converts QlikView charts with trellis mode enabled into a trellis container that references a master visualization. See Trellis container in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Variance waterfall | A Viz Bundle chart type that supports one dimension and two measures. When a waterfall chart has dimensions, the overflow resolver suggests variance waterfall as an alternative, since the native Qlik Sense waterfall chart does not accept dimensions. The suggestion is recorded in the Overflow_Actions worksheet. See Variance waterfall chart in Qlik Cloud help. |
| Visual cues | Threshold-based conditional coloring on QlikView measures. QV2QS converts visual cues to Qlik Sense color expressions using nested If() with RGB() functions. See Straight Table in QlikView help. |
| Visualization bundle | A collection of additional visualization types included in Qlik Cloud by default. Radar charts and funnel charts use visualization bundle extensions. See Visualization bundle in Qlik Cloud help. |
