Creating a QlikView connection

This page outlines how to configure a connection to a QlikView environment in the Qlik Analytics Migration Tool. This connection allows the tool to access .qvw files stored in a shared folder path as part of the migration to Qlik Cloud.

Each QlikView connection acts as a source and is required before defining a migration plan that includes QlikView applications.

Steps to create a QlikView connection

Do the following:

  1. Open the Connections tab and select the QlikView option.
  2. Click Create New.
  3. In the Connection Name field, provide a label to distinguish this connection (for example, QlikView-Finance-NA).
  4. In the Folder Path field, enter the full UNC or absolute path to the shared folder containing the QlikView applications (.qvw files). All applications must be located directly in this folder.
    • Ensure that the system running the Qlik Analytics Migration Tool has access permissions to the specified folder.
  5. Click Test Connection to validate the folder path.
    • A success message confirms that the path is accessible and valid.
    • If the test fails, confirm that the path is correct and accessible. Review the error message for troubleshooting guidance.
  6. Click Create Connection to finalize the configuration.
  7. A confirmation notification will appear, and the new QlikView connection will be added to the list.

Best practices

  • Use descriptive connection names that indicate business unit or region.
  • Ensure the shared folder is kept read-only during migration to prevent content drift.
  • Validate folder access by using the same credentials as the Qlik Analytics Migration Tool runtime environment.
