Creating a Qlik Cloud connection

This page describes how to configure a target connection to Qlik Cloud in the Qlik Analytics Migration Tool. Qlik Cloud acts as the destination environment for migrated content from Qlik Sense Client-Managed or QlikView.

Each migration plan must include a valid Qlik Cloud connection to enable import operations. Connections are created once and reused across multiple plans and projects.

When to use

Use this connection type when content is being migrated into a Qlik Cloud tenant. This connection serves as the target system and is required before creating a migration plan.

Steps to create a Qlik Cloud connection

To create a Qlik Cloud connection:

  1. Open the Connections tab in the Qlik Analytics Migration Tool.
  2. Select Create New Connection.
  3. In the connection type selector, choose Qlik Cloud.
  4. Enter the required fields:
    • Name — A descriptive identifier for the connection (for example, QlikCloud-NA-Prod)
    • Tenant URL — The full URL of the Qlik Cloud tenant (for example, https://tenant.qlikcloud.com)
    • API Key — A valid API key generated from the Qlik Cloud Administration activity center
  5. Click Save to create the connection.
Information note

Use naming conventions that reflect environment and region to help distinguish between multiple connections.

Testing the connection

After saving the connection, use the Test Connection option to verify that the Qlik Analytics Migration Tool can successfully reach the Qlik Cloud tenant.

  • A successful test confirms that the API key and tenant URL are valid.
  • Only validated connections are available for selection when creating a migration plan.

Editing and managing

If connection details change (for example, API key rotation or tenant migration):

  1. Navigate to the Connections tab.
  2. Select the Qlik Cloud connection and click Edit to update fields.
  3. Save changes to make them immediately available to all associated plans.

Changes to a connection affect all migration plans that reference it.
