Common attributes for connectors

These are common attributes for all connectors. Fields with a light-red background are required.

System ID

System ID is an attribute seen in all connectors. It is used as the common reference for all nodes it contains. For example, if you aim to use more than one connector of the same type, use a unique identifier which is also descriptive of its purpose. QLIK-SENSE-PROD is most likely a better name than just SENSE, depending on your aim to include more environments as you grow.

System Name

A descriptive name for the connector.

Description

Used to explain the purpose of the connector. Used as an aggregate description of the rule set.

Connector Tags

These tags are searchable from the Data Catalog. They are not in effect from a security standpoint.

Connector Server Aliases

Used to fully inform NodeGraph of the different ways of referring to data sources on the same machine as the current connector refers to.

One scenario where this is needed is if localhost or an absolute file path is used to reference a file or data source within a connector. NodeGraph will then need more information to resolve how this will be referenced from other servers and system.

Another example could be that one system refers to a database using a DNS name, and another system refers to the same database system using IP number. By entering both the IP and DNS name in the alias section of the connector to that database server, NodeGraph will know that they are requests to the same server.

Server Name

Name of the server without any domain specific information when referencing a server within the same network.

Example: “bi-server”

Fully Qualified Domain Name

Name of the server including domain specific information when referencing a server within the same network.

Example: “bi-server.mydomain.local”

IP

IP-address used to reference server.

Example: “192.168.0.101” for IPv4, or “0:0:0:0:0:ffff:c0a8:65” for IPv6.

DNS Name

List of DNS names used to reference server. Separate entries with a semicolon.

Example: “bi-server.mylongdomain.com; bi.shortdomain.com”
