Editing plans
Plans in the Qlik Analytics Migration Tool can be modified at any time to reflect updated migration requirements, such as adjusting object configurations, renaming the plan, or changing connections and settings.
This page outlines the steps required to edit an existing plan.
Steps to edit a plan
Do the following:
-
Navigate to the Plans tab
From the main navigation bar, open the Plans tab. -
Locate the plan
In the list of available plans, find the plan to be edited. -
Click the Edit button
Under the Actions column, click the Edit button associated with the plan. -
Make the required changes
Modify any editable fields such as plan name, selected connections, object configurations, or metadata mappings. To update object metadata for apps, spaces, users, or other items, use the dual-view table in the plan interface. -
Save the plan
Changes made within the plan editor are not saved automatically. Select Save Migration Plan to commit changes. If you attempt to leave the plan with unsaved changes, a prompt will appear asking for confirmation before closing. Once saved, you are returned automatically to the Plans tab.
Configuration
The Configuration part of the plan is for high-level settings to apply to the plan. It is made up of 3 sections:
Qlik Connections
Choose a single connection for each connection type. There are 3 types of source connections — Qlik Sense Client Managed, QlikView, and NPrinting — and only one target connection type — Qlik Cloud.
Space Settings
This section is used to apply any universal prefix or postfix naming conventions to spaces in the plan.
User Email Mapping
This section maps a Qlik Sense Client Managed user domain to an email domain in Qlik Cloud. When applied, the UserId in Client Managed will be used as the email address in Qlik Cloud.
For example, if the user domain in Qlik Sense Client Managed is QLIKTECH and that is mapped to the email domain qlik.com, then a user with the UserId john.smith in Qlik Sense Client Managed will automatically have the email "john.smith@qlik.com" applied as part of the migration plan.
Object Selection
The Object Selection part of the plan has multiple tabs to configure. A complete plan can have one or all tabs configured with objects to migrate, with each tab consisting of two tables — one for client-managed and one for cloud (see Creating plans > Object configuration). The cloud tables are editable while the client-managed tables are not.
To work with object selection, objects must first be retrieved. See Creating Plans > Choose a method for retrieving or preparing objects for instructions on object retrieval.
Each tab in Object Selection will have a dropdown for selecting available objects, a toggle to switch between the client-managed table and the cloud table, an Actions button when one or more rows are selected for bulk editing, a Clear Table button to remove all objects from a table, and in some tabs there will be an Add New button for creating a brand-new object in Qlik Cloud during the migration.
