tExternalSortRow Standard properties
These properties are used to configure tExternalSortRow running in the Standard Job framework.
The Standard tExternalSortRow component belongs to the Processing family.
The component in this framework is available in all Talend products.
Basic settings

Name or path to the file to be processed and/or the variable to be used. For further information about how to define and use a variable in a Job, see Using contexts and variables. |
Field separator |
Character, string or regular expression to separate fields. |
External command "sort" path |
Enter the path to the external file containing the sorting algorithm to use. |

Maximum memory |
Type in the size of physical memory you want to allocate to sort processing. |
Temporary directory |
Specify the temporary directory to process the sorting command. |
Set temporary input file directory |
Select the check box to activate the field in which you can specify the directory to handle your temporary input file. |
Add a placeholder EOF line |
Select this check box when using the tAggregateSortedRow component. |
tStatCatcher Statistics |
Select this check box to gather the Job processing metadata at the Job level as well as at each component level. |

Global Variables |
ERROR_MESSAGE: the error message generated by the component when an error occurs. This is an After variable and it returns a string. This variable functions only if the Die on error check box is cleared, if the component has this check box. NB_LINE: the number of rows read by an input component or transferred to an output component. This is an After variable and it returns an integer. A Flow variable functions during the execution of a component while an After variable functions after the execution of the component. To fill up a field or expression with a variable, press Ctrl+Space to access the variable list and choose the variable to use from it.
