Configuring a dashboard

Talend Data Catalog provides dashboards capabilities like those of the Business Intelligence dashboards such as tile layout and widgets for statistics with grids, bar or pie charts.

Procedure

  1. Go to DASHBOARDS > Manage.
  2. In the My tab, click the dashboard name to open it.
  3. In the More actions menu, click Customize.
  4. Drag and drop one or more widgets from the right panel into the left area:
    Widget Description
    Container Insert containers to group dashboard objects together. They allow you to maintain structure and order in your dashboards.

    You can add columns to a container by opening the settings of the container and selecting Insert column before or Insert column after.

    You can add rows to a container by opening the settings of the container and selecting Insert row before or Insert row after.

    Worksheets Insert lists of existing worksheets classified by type, such as the list of five personal worksheets.
    Dashboards Insert lists of existing dashboards classified by type such as the list of nine dashboards shared with me.
    Collections Insert lists of existing collections classified by type such as the four recent collections.
    Worksheet Insert a list of objects that match the criteria of a worksheet such as the list of ten certified terms.
    Counter Show the total number of objects that match the criteria of a worksheet such as the total number of the certified terms in a glossary.
    Percentage Show the percentage of objects that match the criteria of a worksheet such as the percentage of the certified terms in a glossary.
    Attribute Statistics Insert a list of statistics related to a type of custom or object attribute in a worksheet.
    Collection Insert a list of objects from an existing collection such as the list of six reports added in the New reports collection.
    Collection Counter Show the total number of objects added in a collection.
    Recent Objects Insert the list of objects that you have recently opened.
    HTML text Insert plain or HTML text with hyperlinks.
    Embedded Webpage Embed and display an external web page in your dashboard.

    Show a single and static image that can be saved in the installation directory.

    Link Set a link to open in the same tab or a new one.
    Links Set a list of links to open in the same tab or a new one.
  5. To configure a Container widget, click the Settings icon in the top right.
    You can configure the display options of the container.
    You can also add new vertical containers, copy the content and remove the container.
  6. To configure other widgets, click the Settings icon in the top right then Configure.
    You can configure the content and the display options of the widget.
    You can also refresh the content, copy and remove the widget.
  7. Once configured, save your changes.
  8. Click SAVE AS to save as a personal dashboard.
    As an administrator, you can also save as a system dashboard.
  9. Enter a name and a description then click OK.
  10. Optionally, share your dashboard.
  11. Click Stop editing.
