Slack V2

The Qlik Slack V2 connector uses Slack APIs to access your Slack data, such as the list of users and their details for a Slack channel or all direct messages from your public and private channels.

Nota informativaThis data source is not available in Qlik Sense Business or Qlik Cloud Analytics Standard.

Ways to access your data

To access your Slack data, you need to authenticate the connector with your Slack account credentials. After you create a connection and select Slack as your data source, you are redirected to a Slack login page to retrieve your authentication token.

Loading data from tables

After you authenticate the connector with your account credentials, use the tables to fetch your data. Some tables are preconfigured to access a specific set of data while others let you create custom queries. The table below outlines some of the use cases for some of the tables that are available.

Tables that can be loaded in Qlik Sense
Table Available in Description
Profile Gerenciador de dados and Editor da carga de dados Lists a user's profile information.
AllUsers Gerenciador de dados and Editor da carga de dados Lists all users in a Slack team. This includes deleted and deactivated users.
Channels Gerenciador de dados and Editor da carga de dados Fetch the list of channels that are available to the team. The table returns a list of channel IDs which are used to run other tables.
Members Editor da carga de dados Lists members of a conversation.
Messages Editor da carga de dados Lists a conversation's history of messages and events.
UsersConversations Editor da carga de dados Lists conversations the calling user may access.
Reactions Gerenciador de dados and Editor da carga de dados Lists reactions made by a user.

To select and load data from a table, enter the required table parameters and click Preview data. Required parameters are marked with an asterisk (*) in the dialog. The table fields are displayed under the Data preview tab. You can select fields individually by selecting the box beside each field name. Select Insert script after you have made your selection.

Table parameters

To run some of the tables, you need to enter specific table parameters, usually in the form of an object ID or an object name. You can find many of these parameters when you run other tables.

For example, to run the UsersConversations table you need the Channel ID. You can fetch the list of Channel IDs by running the Channels table.

Working with the Slack V2 API quota limits

The Qlik Web Connectors use the Slack V2 APIs to extract data from Slack and load it into your Qlik Sense app. While reloading your Slack-based app, you might receive an error message that the connector has reached the Slack V2 API rate limit and that all subsequent API calls will fail until the connector falls back under the throttling limit. If you receive this error message, then you have exceeded one of the API rate limits.

You receive an error message that you have reached the API rate limit

Reference - Slack developer documentation

You can refer to the Slack developer documentation to learn more about the requirements and restriction imposed by the Slack V2 APIs.

Troubleshooting

You receive an error message that you have reached the API rate limit

Possível causa

You have exceeded the API limits that are imposed on the Qlik Web Connectors by one of the Slack V2 APIs.

Ação proposta

To reduce the impact of reaching the API rate limits, develop your app with the following in mind:

  • Extract only the data you need.
  • Reload one Slack-based application at a time.
  • Ensure that loops in your script that make API calls will not result in infinite loops.

You receive an error message that Qlik Web Connectors (Slack) can’t be installed

Possível causa

Your Slack workplace is not set to allow installation of apps from outside its own app catalogue.

Ação proposta

The owner of the Slack workplace should check the settings related to app management on the Slack admin page, setting any options that restrict app installations to False.
