Upgrading NodeGraph

If you have been using NodeGraph before and want to do an upgrade, you can follow these instructions.

Backup

When upgrading NodeGraph, it is recommended best practice to create a backup on your setup to be able to restore. If you are upgrading from NodeGraph 3 to NodeGraph 4, a backup is not necessary since NodeGraph will install into new folders and your previous installation will be untouched by running the NodeGraph v4 Installer.

NodeGraphServer.exe.config

You can find the configuration file for the NodeGraph installation under NodeGraph’s installation directory (default C:\Program Files\NodeGraph\)..

This file contains possible changes to reserved ports, customized data folder, and non-anonymous authorization settings. It is recommended to backup this file prior to any changes on the software, so potential deviations from default setups are not lost.

NLog.config

You can find NLog.config in the installation directory (C:\Program Files\NodeGraph). This file contains the settings for your logging behavior. This is rarely changed, but if you are aware of changes in your logging, it is recommended that you back this up as well.

Nodegraph.dat

Under the Common Program Data folder (default C:\ProgramData\Nodegraph) you will find nodegraph.dat. This file contains ALL settings made to your environment through the interface. All container settings, connector configurations, DQM use cases, Field Tracker Report settings and so forth. Given that all your data systems are still reachable, all other data in your environment can be recreated from this file.

License.dat

This is the license file for NodeGraph. This can always be requested again from NodeGraph but is always recommended to keep a backup on hand as well.
