Create an Essbase connection
Access to the Essbase Connector is provided by Qlik Sense and QlikView. Apps connect to data sources through the Edit Script dialog in QlikView and through either Add data or the Data load editor in Qlik Sense. The requirements for connecting are the same for both tools.
The difference between Add data and the Data load editor is mainly in how you manage data. Add data provides assistance with creating data associations in your data model. The Data load editorand Edit script dialogs enables you to build a data model with Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) processes using the data load script language. The data load script language enables you to perform complex transformations and to create a scalable data model.
Connecting to Essbase
You can connect to an Essbase data source with either Add data or the Data load editor when using Qlik Sense. When using QlikView you connect with the Edit script dialog.

Troubleshooting
No data source
The connector contacts the XMLA service when you click the Load button in Data load editor or use the drop-down menu in Edit script.
If there are no Essbase servers registered in the XMLA service, the Data Source drop-down list will be empty. The list will also be empty if the address or port number provided for the XMLA server is incorrect.
Verify that your server and port information are correct and ensure that you have entered the correct user name and password for this Essbase service.
