Using the semantic search syntax
Semantic search is based on a variety of information, such as keywords, concept
and context of terms, synonyms of a term, word variations or intent of a searcher's
query.
You can use the following keywords:
Keyword type | Description |
---|---|
Object types |
term, dataset,
attribute, entity,
table, column,
file, field,
database, model,
data model, and
report
You can use these keywords in singular or plural. |
Model categories | glossary, glossaries, database, databases, db, modeling, data modeling, bi, reporting, tableau, bo, cognos, and obi |
These keywords do not need to be quoted when space is used.
You can also use these keywords with additional qualifier keywords, as follows:
- customer table returns all database tables having customer in the name.
- datasets with email: returns all tables/files with a column/field having email in the name.
You can also use the semantic search BNF syntax, for example:
<semantic search query> = <type> | <children> | <label> | <steward> | <category>
Query element | Description |
---|---|
<type> | <name> <types> |
<children> | <types> with <name> |
<label> | <types> with <name> label |
<steward> | <types> | <name> ’s terms |
<category> | <name> in <categories> |
<name> | <alphanumeric>+ | <character>+ |
<types> | datasets | dataset | entities | entity | tables | table | files | file | attributes | attribute | columns | column | fields | field | reports | report | terms | term | databases | database | data models | data model | models | model |
