Setting a default report folder and logo file

Before you begin

You have selected the Profiling perspective.

About this task

Talend Studio offers you the possibility to set up a default report folder. All report documents you generate in the Profiling perspective will be stored in this folder unless you decide to store individual report documents in a folder different from this one when you define the report settings in the report editor. For further information on defining the report settings, see Creating a new report.

Information noteImportant: This folder stores only report documents (.pdf, .xml, .html, etc.). You will always need a database to store the reports and analysis results. For further information on setting a distant database, see Setting up a distant database.

You can also decide to use a logo to customize the reports generated in Talend Studio.

To set a default report folder and logo file, do the following:

Procedure

  1. In the menu bar, select Window > Preferences.
  2. Start typing Reporting in the filter field and then select Reporting from the list to display the corresponding page.
    Overview of the Reporting window.
  3. Click the [...] button next to the Default Report Folder field to open a dialog box and browse to a folder or create a new one.
When you define a default report folder in the Preferences window, the report documents you generate will be stored in this defined folder but will not be committed on the Git server that hosts the shared repository.
  4. Click the [...] button next to the Default Logo File field to open a dialog box and browse to the image file you want to use as a logo on the reports.
  5. Click OK to close the dialog box.
  6. Click Apply and OK to validate your modifications and close the Preferences window.
If you leave the Default Report Folder field empty, any report you generate in Talend Studio will be committed on the Git server that hosts the shared repository on the condition that you do not define an output folder in the report editor as well. Then all team members can share the generated report documents in a remote project that are listed under the Reports node in the DQ Repository tree view.
