Capabilities
QV2QS performs a faithful conversion of QlikView application UIs into Qlik Sense format. Every in-scope object, expression, and layout position is mapped to a Qlik Sense equivalent. Based on observed migrations, QV2QS typically reduces UI migration effort by an order of magnitude compared to manual recreation. Some objects require manual adjustment after conversion; the conversion report identifies every item that needs attention. QV2QS delivers the results to Qlik Cloud or as QVF files on disk.
What QV2QS converts
- Converts QlikView UI objects to Qlik Sense visualization types including bar, line, pie, combo, scatter, pivot, straight table, gauge, treemap, waterfall, funnel, radar, grid, mekko, filter pane, trellis container, and more. For the complete mapping, see Object type mapping.
- Offers two layout modes: fixed canvas for pixel-accurate reproduction, or dynamic grid to use the Qlik Sense responsive grid.
- Handles dimension and measure limits that differ between QlikView and Qlik Sense.
- Extracts and uploads media such as background images and button icons.
- Applies load script path normalization (backslash to forward slash) for Qlik Cloud compatibility. Custom replacement rules can handle additional script adjustments. Load script modernization (data connections, OLEDB/ODBC conversion, Section Access syntax) is outside the QV2QS scope and is handled separately.
- Scans and automatically fixes set analysis quoting patterns that behave differently in Qlik Sense.
- Generates a detailed conversion report and analysis of QlikView features that require attention after migration.
- Supports single-app and batch conversion of entire QlikView estates.
Conversion output
Each conversion produces the following:
- Qlik Sense apps deployed to Qlik Cloud or exported as QVF files.
- An Excel conversion report with per-object detail and automation scoring.
- An analysis of QlikView features and patterns that require attention after migration.
Performance
QV2QS is designed for speed. The core conversion — parsing QlikView XML and generating Qlik Sense JSON — completes in under 30 seconds even for complex applications with hundreds of objects. A full single-app conversion including cloud deployment and data reload typically finishes in two to five minutes.
