Talend Cloud Data Fabric Batch Server

All Environments

The Batch Server is used to execute Batch Jobs that need to be executed withing an organization's security perimeter. It does this via the Talend Remote Engine component. If you have Jobs that have only Cloud based sources/targets you have the option of executing these Jobs on a Cloud Engine for Design. There are numerous reasons for choosing to execute on a Remote Engine including:
  • Accessibility of source target/systems - particularly those that you do not wish to expose to the internet
  • Data Sovereignty
  • Requiring more compute resources than provided by a Cloud Engine
  • Latency - not needing to pull large volumes of data across a WAN link
  • TEST

Talend provides templates/scripts for AWS and Azure that automatically create a Batch Server with the Talend Remote Engine. Using these templates/scripts as part of your DevOps processes is highly recommended. Resources used by Jobs, such as context parameter files, should be properly version controlled and deployed the Batch Server via DevOps processes.

The Talend SAP RFC Server is an optional component that is only used for specific SAP use cases. Most customers will not install this component, which is why it is shown as optional on the diagrams. For more information, see Installing and configuring Talend SAP RFC Server.
