Configuring Kinesis metadata

Last updated: 9/30/2026

You can store Kinesis configuration details in the Repository and reuse them across the relevant Jobs without reconfiguring them each time.

About this task

The Big Data Configurations node in the Metadata folder of the Repository tree view lets you create a centralized Kinesis configuration. You can then drag and drop the configuration onto a Spark Structured Streaming Job to automatically create a tKinesisConfiguration component.

Information noteNote: The Kinesis configuration is intended for Spark Structured Streaming Jobs only.

Procedure

  1. In the Repository tree view of Talend Studio, expand Metadata and then right-click Big Data Configurations.
  2. Select Create Kinesis configuration from the contextual menu to open the configuration wizard.
  3. Fill in the general information for the configuration, such as Name and Description, and click Next.
  4. On the configuration page, fill in the following fields:
    • Access Key ID: Enter the access key ID used to authenticate to your Kinesis service.

    • Secret Access Key: Enter the matching secret access key associated with the access key ID.

    • Endpoint URL: Enter the Kinesis endpoint URL for your cloud region or service instance.

    • Inherit credential: Select this option to use the inherited credentials instead of providing explicit credentials.

  5. Click Finish to save the configuration.

Results

The Kinesis Configuration appears under the Big Data Configurations node in the Metadata folder. You can drag and drop it onto a Spark Structured Streaming Job to automatically create the required Kinesis components.
