Promoting to a Dynamic Engine environment
You can promote all the objects of a Remote Engine or Dynamic Engine environment at once to a Dynamic Engine environment.
Personal workspaces cannot be promoted.
Artifacts that cause errors and cannot be promoted are ignored.
Pipeline artifacts, tasks, and plans cannot be promoted as they are not yet supported by Dynamic Engine environments.
To preserve ownership and control of environments, the promotion should be executed by the owner of the target Dynamic Engine environment.
Before you begin
- You must be assigned to the promotion.
- Ensure that no other promotion is running at the same time on the same source and target environments.
- You need the Promotion - Start (TMC_PROMOTION_EXECUTION) user permission to execute a promotion.
- Plans must be run at least once before they can be promoted.
About this task
It is the responsibility of the target environment owner to promote artifacts. In this case, no additional rights are required for users of the target environment to interact with the promoted artifacts.
The promotion analysis provides a preview of the promotion before it is executed; it helps you find warnings or conflicts. Conflicts prevent the promotion.
When a promotion is over, you can refer to the Promotion Report that lists the artifacts and workspaces promoted and the required user actions in the target environment (specify task parameters, configure new connections and so on).
Procedure
Results
Depending on the amount of objects to promote, a promotion can take up to 30 minutes.
If the promotion takes more than 20 seconds, the promotion will continue to run in background. You can continue working in Talend Management Console while the promotion is being executed.
You can view its progress from the Status column in the promotion list or from the Promotion run history page.
Once the promotion is done, either successfully or with warnings, you can open the Promotion details panel by clicking the promotion name. In the Overview tab, you can see the details of your last promotion. You can also access the full promotion history by clicking View history.
If the promotion fails, a notification appears on the Promotion analysis page to show the promotion errors.
