Applying a naming standard

You can apply a naming standard to a model or specific objects.

  • You have been assigned an object role with the Metadata Editing capability.
  • You have enabled the naming standard for the model.

Applying a naming standard to a model

  1. Open the object page of the model.
  2. Click the More Actions button and select Apply naming standards to the model.

Applying a naming standard to a specific object

  1. Open the object page.
  2. Click the Documentation area to open the Edit Documentation dialog box.

    The naming standard is suggested in the Business Documentation section.

  3. Click the Business Documentation section to edit the business name or description if necessary.
  4. Click OK.

Applying a naming standard to several objects using a worksheet

You can apply a naming standard to several objects at the same time using the bulk editing capability in a worksheet.
  1. Create a worksheet containing the specific objects.
  2. Add the Business Name and Business Description columns to the worksheet.
  3. Select the objects then right-click one of them.
  4. Click Apply Naming Standard.

    The new business name displays in the Business Name column.
