Managing data

Connecting to data sources

Data connections provide a way to save shortcuts to the data sources you commonly use. Qlik Sense provides connectors to access multiple types of data sources, such as, databases, CSV files, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, web-based sources, REST API, Salesforce.com, and SAP. Many of the connectors that access these data sources are built into Qlik Sense while others can be added.

Loading and managing data with Data Manager

You can add data from data sources without learning a script language. Data selections can be edited, and you can get assistance with creating data associations in your data model.

Loading and transforming data with scripting

You can build a data model with ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) processes using the Qlik Sense data load script language. The script language is powerful and enables you to perform complex transformations and creating a scalable data model.

Viewing and transforming the data model

The data model viewer provides you with an overview of the data structure of the app. You can preview data in the tables and fields in the data model viewer. You can also create dimensions and measures on-the-fly.

Customizing logical models for Insight Advisor

Best practices for data modeling

There are a number of different ways you can load your data into the Qlik Sense app, depending on how the data is structured and which data model you want to achieve.
