Monitor automation runs

Last updated: 11/3/2026

Cadence: Daily

Subscription model: All

Roles: Tenant Admin (TA), Analytics Admin (AA)

Last verified: 2026-09

Initial Recurring
Estimated time 10 min 5 min

Benefits:

  • Quick detection of failing or runaway automations
  • Avoids automation-run quota exhaustion from looping or stuck workflows
  • Confirms scheduled automations are still running on cadence

Goal

The Automations page in the admin console shows every automation in the tenant—including run mode, last-run status, enabled state, owner, space, and third-party block usage. A tenant or analytics admin can disable or change the owner of an automation to stop runaway runs. The Runs tab displays runs from the last 30 days; treat that as the upper bound on what you can review in the UI. Daily monitoring helps catch failures and runaway loops before they consume tenant automation capacity.

Tasks

Task TA AA DA AuA
Review failed automation runs and disable any runaway automations ✓ ✓
Use the Automation Analyzer monitoring app for trend / failure analysis (community-supported) ✓ ✓
Identify automations using deprecated blocks—Reload Task blocks and the three Qlik Reporting blocks ("Get Chart Image (deprecated)", "Get Pixel Perfect Report (deprecated)", "Get Tabular Report (deprecated)"—end of life Feb 25, 2026)—and migrate to the successor blocks ✓ ✓

Read before acting—gotchas

  • Reload Task blocks are on a moving target. They were already flagged as replaced by the Tasks API, but as of the June 26, 2026 announcement, the Reload Tasks API itself is being removed on or after Sept 29, 2026—a new Scheduling Tasks API supersedes both it and the existing Tasks API. Point migrations at the Scheduling Tasks API, not the (also-deprecated) Tasks API. See the Qlik release notes and deprecation notices.

Automation helpers

  • Qlik Cloud Monitoring Apps Deployer—Installs / maintains the Automation Analyzer cited above.
  • Alert on automations without runs in the last X days—Confirms scheduled automations are still running on cadence.
  • Alert on failed automation in the last X days—Supports the daily failed-run review.
