Installing and updating Talend Studio

This section shows you how to install and update your Talend Studio.

When installing Talend Studio 8.0, either using the installer or manually, a minimal version with some basic Data Integration features is installed. After installing Talend Studio, to use those features that are not shipped with Talend Studio by default, you need to install them through the Feature Manager. For more information, see Managing features in Talend Studio .

Qlik provides monthly updates that contain new features and bug fixes for Talend Studio 8.0. After installing Talend Studio, you can configure how to update it. For more information, see Updating Talend Studio 8.0.

Talend Studio 8.0 downloads feature packages and monthly updates from an update repository. You need to configure this update repository in Talend Studio. Qlik provides an official update repository, https://update.talend.com/Studio/8/updates, for feature packages and monthly updates. You can also set up your own update repository by creating a proxy repository that links to the official Talend repository or by hosting the official Talend repository. For more information, see Configuring update repositories and Setting up an update repository for Talend Studio and Continuous Integration.

Talend Studio requires specific external modules, either third-party Java libraries or database drivers, to be installed to connect to sources and targets. You need to install those external modules for Talend Studio to work properly. Qlik provides an official Nexus repository https://talend-update.talend.com/nexus for those external modules. If you are working in collaborative mode, you can set up an artifact repository to allow Talend Studio to download, install, and store those external modules in a centralized and shared way. For more information, see Installing external modules and Setting up an artifact repository for sharing external modules in Talend Studio.
