Applying a patch to Talend Studio

Before you begin

Review the information provided in Downloading and applying a patch to Talend Studio.
Information noteWarning: Before applying a patch, be sure to test it by creating a test branch with the current Talend version. You can follow the best practices to apply and test a patch in a safely manner: Best practice: Testing a Talend Studio patch.

Downloading a patch

Procedure

Depending on the version of the patch you need to download, do the following:
  • If you need to download the latest monthly update, download the patch directly from the Downloads page of your Talend Cloud portal.
  • If you need early access to a new patch, or to download an older patch, ask Qlik Support to assign the patch to your customer account. Qlik Support will also create a Talend Remote Nexus server account on your behalf to host the patch. Once receiving the reply, in Talend Remote Nexus server, sign in with your client credentials and go to the exact URL provided by Qlik Support to download the patch.

Applying a patch

Depending on your Talend Studio version, the procedure to apply a patch may differ:

  • Studio 7.x and earlier: placing the patch ZIP in <Studio installation directory>\patches is detected and applied at next launch.
  • Studio 8.0: placing the patch ZIP in patches does not apply it automatically. The patch must be installed using the Feature Manager (local update site).

Procedure

  1. Create a folder named patches under Talend Studio installation directory.
  2. Copy the previously downloaded zip file containing the patch in this folder.
  3. Start Talend Studio and log into the project in which you want to install the patch.
  4. Click the Feature Manager button on the top bar.
If an Authentication dialog box for logging in to the update repositories pops up, enter your username and password for the update repositories and click OK.
Talend Studio checks if there is a new patch, then installs it. For more information, see Installing features using the Feature Manager.
  5. Click OK in the confirmation message which is displayed.
