Creating a preparation

Add a preparation to start preparing and cleansing your data. You can create a preparation from your available datasets.

Information noteWarning: Hierarchical type datasets are not supported by Talend Cloud Data Preparation. You cannot create preparations from them.

Procedure

To create a new preparation, you have two options:
  • From the dataset list, hover over the dataset you want to use as source material for a preparation, click the Talend Cloud Data Preparation icon and select Add to directly start working on this data.
Creation of a preparation from the dataset list.

Existing preparations that have been created from this dataset will be listed with their creator.

  • From the preparation list, click the Add preparation button. In the form that opens, select the source dataset. The Preparation name field is automatically filled in but you can change the preparation name. Click Submit.
    Add a preparation menu opened.
Datasets might be grayed out. The cause is one of the following:
    • The sample is unavailable.
    • The dataset uses an engine that is unavailable.
    • The dataset is of hierarchical type which is not supported by Talend Cloud Data Preparation.
Information noteTip: You can create a dataset from this form. Click Add dataset.

Results

The preparation directly opens with an empty recipe, and you can start performing preparation operations. The preparation will be created in the folder in which you are currently working. Furthermore, your preparation will automatically be saved in the preparations list, and all the changes you make when preparing data are also saved automatically.
