Target properties
Target ID
This ID is a 3-character code that serves as the unique identifier of a target in a given environment.
This ID is automatically used to name the file related to the replication process. For more details, see Naming structure of key programs. Do not use this ID for another target.
Exclude
The transaction records transmitted from the source specified in this parameter are ignored when replicating to the specified target.
This is used for bidirectional replication.
Hold
Inhibits the start-up of replications to the selected target.
Description
Used to attribute a descriptive text to the target.
This text is limited and the help center allows you to document .iASPGRP target more comprehensively (only AS/400 IBMi). This setting points to the name of the ASP group to be defined for the Source engine.
Time delay
If the field is empty, then the value specified in the environment properties is used.
Otherwise, the value specified in this field is applied.
For more details, see Environment properties.
Window in case of communications error
If the field is blank, then the value specified in the environment properties is used.
Otherwise, the value specified in this field is applied.
For more details, see Environment properties.
Target type
-
AS/400 IBMi
Designates the AS/400 IBMi, iSeries, Power i machine where both Talend Change Data Capture and the database are located.
-
NT
Designates the machine where the target engine is located, regardless of the type of database and its location.
Therefore, a target Talend Change Data Capture machine can be used to replicate towards databases located on other machines and OS.
Communications
Communications are used to specify the desired communication type. The only available choice is IP (TCP/IP).
Name
This property specifies the name of the target machine.
By default, when you select an IP address, Talend Change Data Capture retrieves the machine's name to enter it in this field.
Compression
Enabling compression increases the capacity of exchange buffers by compressing data. It is useful when communications are not broadband.
A test is relevant to determine whether it is necessary or not.
The algorithm will increase the speed of compression relative to the compression ratio.
Trace
The Trace mode is selected to record, on the target, a trace file of the exchanges and actions performed by Talend Change Data Capture.
If the target type is AS/400 IBMi, the trace file is saved to the DD_USRDATA library.
For an NT-type target, the trace file is located in the Data directory at a level below the one in which Talend Change Data Capture is installed.
The trace file is named as follows: Ree_sssggg.
Where:
- ee is the environment
- sss is the source ID
- ggg is the model
The Trace mode must be reserved for error analysis only. It must not remain enabled as it would soon fill up the target disk and slow down the replication process to a great extent.
When the Trace mode is enabled, an information message is added to the message list. The Trace mode applies to all the distributions on the selected target. It is permanent, as it remains enabled until you disable it. You can also use the temporary trace feature that is disabled automatically after each distribution.
TCP-IP address
The TCP-IP address specifies the IP address or DNS name of the target machine.
If the target is not a Windows machine, such as ORACLE on HP 9000, the target would be a non-dedicated Windows machine on which the Oracle client for Windows must be installed and set up.
