Differences between QlikView and Qlik Sense

QlikView is our first generation analytics platform. Qlik Sense offers modern analytic solutions.

QlikView is based on guided analytics. Applications are created by QlikView document developers who put a lot of thought into the data model, the layout, the charts, and formulas. They deliver the application to analysts. Analysts have total freedom to explore data, select, or drill-down. However, they are limited when it comes to creating new visualizations.

Qlik Sense offers self-service data discovery. Analysts are free to create new apps, visualizations, and bookmarks. This leads to much more active, engaged users. It means there is less data development in the beginning, because Qlik Sense app developers do not need to build scripts that meet every user need. In addition, Qlik Sense is much easier to use on touch screens, and is adaptive to different screen sizes and form factors. Qlik Sense is a more modern offering that integrates well with other tools and technology.

If you want to migrate from QlikView to Qlik Sense, see Planning for the future section of QlikView - Customer Resources.
