Building custom connectors
Introduction
Introduction
Qlik data eXchange (QVX) is a file/stream format for high performance data input into Qlik Sense and QlikView. A QVX formatted file contains metadata describing a table of data and the actual data. In contrast to the QVD format, which is proprietary and optimized for a minimum of transformations inside Qlik Sense and QlikView, the QVX format is public and free to use.
Qlik QVX Custom Connector is an interface used for developing custom connectors. Connectors are launched as separate processes when Qlik Sense or QlikView needs to retrieve data from custom data sources. The connector applications can work in either of two ways:
- The connector can either reply to requests from Qlik Sense or QlikView to connect to a data source, retrieve data, and then stream QVX formatted data back.
- Alternatively, it can run as a standalone application and create a QVX file to be loaded into Qlik Sense or QlikView later on.
