QlikView archive files (QAR)
A QlikView archive file (QAR) is just a ZIP file with the QAR extension. If you rename the extension of a QAR file to ZIP and then unzip it, you will see files, and if applicable, folders in the extraction result.
Example: WebPageViewer.qar
- Definition.xml
- DynProperties.qvpp
- Icon.png
- Properties.qvpp
- Script.js
Installing QAR files to QlikView Desktop
It is easy to install QAR files for use within QlikView Desktop. Just double-click on the QAR file and QlikView will start automatically, displaying a confirmation dialog that the content of the QAR file has been installed to your computer.
You can then switch to WebView and drag and drop the new extension to your QlikView application.
Depending on the Operating System and the type of extension (object or document extension), the QAR file extracts to:
Windows 7, 8.1, 10
- \Users\<user>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Objects
- \Users\<user>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Document
Deploying QAR files to QlikView Server
When deploying an object extension or a document extension to QlikView Server, you must manually copy and paste the content of the QAR file to the server.
Depending on the Operating System and the type of extension (object or document extension), the QAR file extracts to:
Windows Server 2008, 2012:
- \ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects
- \ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Document
Defining alternate installation paths
You can define an alternate installation path for your server extensions within the Qlik Management Console (QMC). You should use the following path structures:
- Document extensions: <Your Alternate Extension Path>/Document/
- Object extensions: <Your Alternate Extension Path>/Objects/
