Getting started with the QVX SDK

This guide describes the code you need to write in order to create your own, custom QVX connector that can run from within Qlik Sense or QlikView.

The following steps are required to create a custom QVX connector:

  1. Creating a new solution in Microsoft Visual Studio.
  2. Adding QvxLibrary to your solution
  3. Implementing mandatory classes (Program.cs, QvEventLogConnection.cs, and QvEventLogServer.cs).
  4. Building your solution.
  5. Making your connector recognizable by Qlik Sense or QlikView.
  6. Installing your connector
Information note

To download the QVX SDK, go to the Qlik Download Site. Select QlikView and look for QvxSDK_2.1_x64.zip in the list of download files.

Information notecommunity.qlik.com/docs/DOC-2639. Log on with a registered customer or partner account and see QVX - Create Your Own Data Connector at the bottom of the page.

Example solutions, based on the Windows Log files, can be found in folders where the zip file was extracted:

  • QvxSDK_2.1\Examples\EventLogSimple\EventLogSimple.sln
  • QvxSDK_2.1\Examples\EventLogElaborate\EventLogElaborate.sln

Complete documentation of the QvxLibrary.DLL API is provided in QvxSDK_2.1\QVXLibrary.chm. If the QVX SDK zip file has been extracted to another folder, substitute that folder name for QvxSDK_2.1.
