Installing Qlik GeoAnalytics for QlikView Desktop
This is a guide to installing Qlik GeoAnalytics on a QlikView Desktop.
Note that you will need a Qlik LEF license to install version 5.8 or later.
Installation
-
Download GeoAnalyticsForQlikViewDesktop<version>.zip from Product Downloads.
For more information, see Downloading installation files.
-
Unzip the file into any folder on the server computer.
-
Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the file.
- Double-click the .qar files to install the extensions.
- Run the GeoAnalyticsSetup file to set up GeoAnalytics. This will require you to activate your license.
-
The setup ends with a new window where you enter your license.
By default the license tool will authenticate against Qlik Sense SaaS, but if you have configured a custom server during installation it will use that instead.Information noteIf you have a signed key and a local installation of GeoAnalytics Server you will need to make sure that it has been upgraded to the May 2021 release or newer, as older versions don't support signed keys.
Configuration
You can configure a few global extension settings by editing the file IdevioMap\settings.js in the QlikView extensions folder by adding or changing the values of the following properties.
The settings file is overwritten when upgrading, so any settings will need to be applied again. It is therefore recommended that you, if you edit the settings, make a copy of the file for easy restoration after upgrade.
Setting | Type | Description |
---|---|---|
server | string | Default GeoAnalytics server URL |
allowCustomServer | boolean | If false maps will ignore the map server URL setting in their properties and instead use the default URL |
safeHtml | boolean | If true info bubbles will be limited to only allow a small safer subset of HTML tags (a,b,br,em,i,img, small, span, strong, sup, sub) and attributes (class, style, href, target, rel, alt, src, height, width) |
Updating
To update your existing GeoAnalytics for QlikView Desktop installation, repeat the installation process with the updated extension files.
Troubleshooting installation
If you install the GeoAnalytics extensions as instructed, but QlikView Desktop displays an "Invalid Visualization" error, it is likely a QlikView cache error.
To resolve this issue, you need to clear the browser cache that QlikView uses for WebView mode, which is Microsoft Edge by default. If you have the same problem with other QlikView Desktop apps, repeat the process with that app.
Microsoft Edge
- Open the browser settings.
- Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.
- Uncheck everything except Cached data and files.
- Select Clear.
- Hit F5 to refresh.
