Using JRXML templates in Talend Studio
Last updated: 9/30/2026You can use the Jaspersoft reporting tool to create your own reports through iReport or Jaspersoft Studio. They are open, powerful, and complex tools that use XML templates to generate reports that can be saved as PDF, XML, or HTML files. The XML document that defines the composition of the report is a reusable template that the report framework in Talend Studio populates with data it extracts from the data quality database.
You can then import those personalized JRXML templates in Talend Studio.
If you do not want to start from scratch and create your own templates, you can import the by-default JRXML files and folders that are pre-defined in the platform and modify them according to your needs.
The JRXML files you want to use with Talend Studio must be created or updated with Jaspersoft Studio 7.0.6 or a later compatible version.
Converting existing JRXML templates
Talend Studio uses JasperReports 7, which is not backward compatible with older JRXML and JRTX templates. Convert existing templates before you import them into Talend Studio.
- Open the old .jrxml or .jrtx file in Jaspersoft Studio 7.0.6 or a later compatible version.
- Save the file to update its XML schema.
- Import the converted file into Talend Studio. See Importing JRXML templates.
