Talend Installers specific prerequisites
Last updated: 8/28/2026Talend Installer prerequisites
Prior to launching the Talend Installer, confirm you followed these prerequisites:
-
You have downloaded the Talend-Tools-Installer-YYYYYYYY_YYYY-VA.B.C-installer.zip file from your license email and extracted its folder.
The extracted folder contains a dist file and executable files corresponding to the supported operating systems.
For Windows, use Talend-Tools-Installer-YYYYYYYY_YYYY-VA.B.C-windows-x64-installer.exe.
In the file name, YYYYYYYY_YYYY is the timestamp and A.B.C is the revision level (Major.Minor.Patch).
-
You have downloaded two files from your license email, a zip and a dist file, and you stored both files in the same directory. You extracted the zip file in this directory.
The extracted folder contains the executable files for every supported operating system.
For Windows, use Talend-Installer-YYYYYYYY_YYYY-VA.B.C-windows-x64-installer.exe
In the file name, YYYYYYYY_YYYY is the timestamp and A.B.C is the revision level (Major.Minor.Patch).
- You have downloaded the license file from your license email, with no file extension.
-
JRE 17 or higher is installed on the machine on which you want to install the Talend modules.
Information noteNote: With JRE, make sure the jvm.dll file is located in your JRE directory under the bin\server\ folder. - Confirm that all required ports are open. For more information, see Proxy and firewall allowlist information.
- If you want to install Talend Data Stewardship, Talend Data Preparation, and Talend Dictionary Service, make sure you have installed and configured a MongoDB instance to which you can connect. For more information, see Installing and configuring MongoDB to prepare for Talend Installer installation.
-
If you are reinstalling or upgrading Talend Data Stewardship or Talend Data Preparation, be aware that the upgraded MinIO version in recent installers may cause existing configuration or data to become inaccessible.
This can result in "artifact not found" errors. If you encounter these errors, create, delete, or update a semantic type. This action regenerates the affected artifact and uploads it back to MinIO.
- If you want to configure your Talend modules to use Talend LogServer during the installer installation, you must install Talend LogServer manually before you run the installer. See Installing and configuring Talend logging modules (deprecated).
IMPORTANT:
Talend Installer allows you to get out-of-the-box Talend solutions that do not require any manual installation. However, these solutions are not provided in a production-ready environment as they may require additional configurations or optimizations according to your specific needs.
For example, you may want to change the MySQL database that is embedded by default in Talend Administration Center with your own database (PostgreSQL or Oracle for example). If you do this, you need to install the driver for the relevant database. For more information, see Installing database drivers in your Web application server.
Talend Studio Installer prerequisites
Talend Studio Installer is a convenient way of installing your Talend Studio. As it comes with an embedded Java Environment, you can install it directly from the installer.
Prior to launching the Talend Studio Installer, confirm you followed these prerequisites:
- Download the TalendStudio-A-B-C-windows-x64-installer.exe file from your license email.
-
From the 8.0.1-R2026-06 monthly patch and later, Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is required to launch Talend Studio on Windows. In some environments, such as Windows VMs, install the WebView2 Runtime manually before launching Talend Studio. For more information, see Distribute your app and the WebView2 Runtime.
When installing Talend Studio, either using the installer or manually, a minimal version with some basic Data Integration features is installed. After Talend Studio installation, to use those features that are not shipped with Talend Studio by default, you need to install them through the Feature Manager. For more information, see Installing and updating Talend Studio and Managing features in Talend Studio .
Talend provides monthly updates that contain new features and bug fixes for Talend Studio. After installing Talend Studio, you can configure how to update it. For more information, see Updating Talend Studio.
