Setting up an update repository by hosting it

You can set up the update repository, also called p2 repository, by hosting the official Talend repository. This setup is recommended for centralizing the updates and making them available to Talend Studio users who don't have access to the internet.

This procedure shows you how to set up the update repository for Talend Studio feature packages and monthly update using Apache Tomcat by hosting the official Talend repository

Procedure

Download the archive for the Talend Studio monthly update and Talend Studio feature packages from the official Talend repository. For example, download Patch_20240604_R2024-05_v2-8.0.1.zip for the 8.0 R2024-05 Talend Studio monthly update.

Information noteNote: Prior to the monthly update for 2024-05, the feature packages were provided in a separate archive. Since the monthly update for 2024-05, feature packages and monthly updates are included in the monthly updates archive.
Extract the archive for the Talend Studio monthly update and feature packages in the webapps folder of Apache Tomcat.
Rename the folder for the Talend Studio monthly update and feature packages to repo-update, for example.
Start Apache Tomcat.
Later, you can use http://<repo-server>/repo-update to configure the update URL in Talend Studio or the -Dtalend.studio.p2.update parameter in Continuous Integration, where <repo-server> is the IP address or the host name of the Apache Tomcat server.
Note that you can also use other server tools besides Apache Tomcat, and you can even host a repository using a local folder and then configure the URL using the complete path to the folder.
