Logging in to Talend Cloud Data Inventory

The first step on the way to using Talend Cloud Data Inventory is to access and log in to the web application.

Once you receive your login information from your administrator, proceed as follows to log in Talend Cloud Data Inventory and start using it:

Procedure

  1. Access the Talend Cloud environment at the URL corresponding to your region following this pattern: <region>.cloud.talend.com. You'll find a list of the URLs to use for each data center in Accessing Talend Cloud applications.
  2. Enter your login and password, then click Log in to open the Talend Cloud homepage.

    If you are prompted to migrate your Talendaccount to a common Qlik account, follow this procedure to complete the migration before proceeding to next steps.

    Each app has its own quick start guide and direct links to the documentation that you can access by clicking Learn more, as well as short video tutorials.

    Information noteNote: Some apps may not be available to you depending on your license or deployment.
  3. To access the Talend Cloud Data Inventory homepage, you can either:
    • Click the Launch button, at the bottom of the Talend Data Inventory tile.

    • Click Select an app icon and select Data Inventory from the list of available applications.
      Select an app menu.
    The Talend Cloud Data Inventory application opens.
  4. Follow the guided tour that opens and import the sample content to help you get started quickly with some demo datasets.
    The guided tour provides guidance about the key elements and features of the application. You can access it any time by clicking the user name in the header menu and selecting Guided tour.

Results

You have now reached the Datasets tab of the application. This is where all your future datasets, as well as the demo datasets, will be listed. You will be able to import, sort, interact with, and search your assets from here.

From the Talend Cloud Data Inventory homepage, you can also access several other tabs, including the Connections tab, where you will be able to set up access to your data stores, the Semantic types tab, where you can refine how your data will be discovered and validated, and also the Custom attributes tab, where you can manage your own metadata definitions.
