Oracle Cloud deployment example
Oracle provides a cloud infrastructure with all the services and computing power you need to provide a reliable, cloud deployment platform for Qlik Sense that can perform regardless of unexpected changes in demand and concurrency.
Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows deployment on Oracle Cloud
Components in a typical Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows deployment on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI):
-
Virtual Cloud Network (VCN): A logically isolated area within OCI where you can launch OCI compute instances in a defined virtual network.
-
Subnet: You need at least one subnet within the VCN, which can be public or private. Public subnets have direct access to the internet, whereas private subnets are isolated from the internet and accessible only internally.
-
NAT gateway (optional): Restricts inbound traffic to private subnets while allowing outbound traffic to the internet. Useful for instances launched in private subnets that require internet access.
-
Bastion host (optional): A secure gateway that allows SSH/RDP access from trusted networks into the private subnet where Qlik Sense is deployed, enhancing security for administrative access.
-
Security lists: Sets of rules that govern traffic flow to and from compute instances within a VCN, providing network security controls.
-
Route tables: Define the routing rules within the VCN, directing traffic between subnets and internet gateways.
-
Block volume: Persistent storage providing highly available and scalable block-level storage, managed independently from compute instances.
-
Oracle Base Database Service: A managed platform for deploying and scaling Oracle database workloads in the cloud, available in Standard and Enterprise editions.
-
Oracle Autonomous Database: A self-driving, self-securing, and self-repairing cloud database service.
-
Oracle Exadata Database Service: High-performance, scalable, and available database service powered by Exadata infrastructure.
-
MySQL Database Service: Database service ensuring high availability and scalability for cloud applications.
-
Windows Server compute instance: Hosts and configures your Qlik Sense installation within a subnet.
-
Qlik Sense Server node: A Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows node deployed on Windows Server instance, including the Engine, Proxy, Repository, and Scheduler services.
Deployment options:
- Qlik Sense node in a public subnet with direct internet access.
- Qlik Sense node in a private subnet without internet access.
The choice between a public or private subnet depends on your specific deployment requirements and security considerations.
