Licensing Qlik NPrinting offline

You must have an internet connection to activate a license. If you are offline, or if the online activation fails, the Qlik NPrinting Server will ask you to manually insert the contents of the License Enabler File (LEF) , Signed License Key (SLK), or Signed License Definition (SLD).

For more information on licensing, see Licensing Qlik NPrinting.

Using Qlik NPrinting with LEF

If you do not have an LEF file, please contact Customer Support.

Do the following:

  1. Open your browser and point it to your Qlik NPrinting Server License activation page by opening the URL:

    https://YourServerName:4993/#/admin/license/offline?username=xxx&organization=yyy

    where:

    • YourServerName is the name of your Qlik NPrinting Server.
    • xxx is your username
    • yyy is your organization name
  2. Copy and paste the contents of the LEF file in the text box of the License activation form.
  3. Click on Activate offline.

You will see a deactivation message and license parameter forms.

Using Qlik NPrinting with SLD with Delayed Sync

No special configuration is needed. For information on generating the SLD, see How to activate Qlik Sense, QlikView, and Qlik NPrinting without Internet Access.

Using Qlik NPrinting with offline SLD

Your license must be converted for offline use. Please refer to for obtaining the offline Signed License Definition, see Request license offline approval - April 2020 and onwards.

Once you obtain the offline license, you must edit the license.config file.

Do the following:

  1. Stop the WebEngine, Scheduler, and License services.

  2. Open this file: \Program Files\NPrintingServer\NPrinting\License\license.config

  3. Add the following tag in the appSettings section: <add key="offline" value="true" />

  4. Restart the License, Scheduler, and WebEngine services.

  5. In the Qlik NPrinting web console go to Admin > License activation.

If you are updating an existing license, click Change.

  6. Select Signed key license format and enter the offline license information.

  7. Click Activate.

Offline mode is not compatible with the online signed key format. If Qlik NPrinting is licensed with an online signed key and the service is set up to run in offline mode, it will reject the existing license.

You can revert this process as needed.

Do the following:

  1. Stop the WebEngine, Scheduler, and License services.

  2. Remove the tag that was added from the license.config file.

  3. Restart the services.

  4. In the Qlik NPrinting web console go to Admin > License activation.

If you are updating an existing license, click Change.

  5. Select Signed key license format and enter the offline license information.

  6. Click Activate.
