Big Data Edge Node

Edge node simple definition from Techtarget: “An edge node is a computer that acts as an end user portal for communication with other nodes in cluster computing. Edge nodes are also sometimes called gateway nodes or edge communication nodes.”

The reasons for the existence of edge nodes will vary depending on the big data technology being used, but generally include factors like network bandwidth and security considerations.

Similar to the IPP Edge Node, the Remote Engine is placed upon an Edge Node in order to allow access to execute batch or streaming (Talend Real-Time Big Data Platformonly) Jobs. Rather than the Talend Job performing the compute, it acts as a "runner" to instantiate the Job on the Big Data Cluster. High Availability for executing these "runners" can be achieved using Remote Engine Clusters.
