Updating the language and assigned custom roles of an MDM user

From the User Manager page, you can update the language and assigned roles of an MDM user.

Before you begin

  • Make sure the MDM server is up and running.

  • Make sure you have logged in the web user interface as an administrator or a user who has Read & Write access to the Manage Users menu.

  • Make sure you have selected the data container that holds the master data you want to give access to and the data model against which the master data will be validated.

Procedure

  1. On the Menu panel, click Administration > Manage Users.
  2. In the page that opens, select a language from the Language list.
The selected language is used as the default display language of Talend MDM Web UI.
  3. In the Roles section, click the arrow to open a list of all custom roles created in Talend Studio.
By default, there is a predefined built-in role named administration.
  4. Select the custom role(s) you want to assign to this user and then click the Add this role button.
The custom roles are defined centrally in Talend Studio by the MDM administrator. For each role, the menus available on the Menu panel as well as access rights to data objects and associated items may differ. Access rights may be defined as Read & Write or Read Only, while views of particular data objects or menus may be blocked. It is therefore important to be aware of the views and access rights associated with a role, prior to assigning it to a user.
Information noteNote: For the access control defined inside the data model XML schema source, the most restrictive permission will always be taken into account. For example, if a user has two custom roles A and B, and custom role A has access to an object while custom role B does not, then the user will not have access to the object.
For further information on creating new custom roles, see the Talend Studio User Guide.
  5. Click Save.
