Compatible Java Runtime Environments
In order to use Talend Data Catalog, Java
must be installed on your machine. The following table provides information on the supported
Java Runtime Environments.
In the following documentation:
- recommended: designates an environment recommended by Talend based on our experiences and customer usage.
- supported: designates a supported environment for use with the listed component or service.
- supported with limitations: designates an environment that is supported by Talend but with certain conditions explained in notes.

Information noteNote: Java bridges are compiled to be
compatible with JRE 8 because some Java bridges depend on the tool's SDK which is not
necessarily compatible with OpenJDK 11. Typically the tool's older SDK can only work
with older versions such as Java 8. In such case the bridge tries to automatically run
with the JRE bundled with the tool software instead. When this is not possible, the
bridge offers the ability to manually point to a compatible JRE in the bridge's
Miscellaneous parameter. Bridges for tools having compatibility issues with OpenJDK 11
include at least Oracle Data Integration and SAP BusinessObjects.
Other Java Runtime Environments such as IBM Java require manual installation/setup and
are therefore not supported by this version.
