Authorization is the procedure of granting or denying users access to resources. In Qlik Sense, there are two authorization systems:
- Access control:
Resource access control (that is, app level authorization): Is the user allowed to access the app? Which functions in the app is the user allowed to use (for example, printing, exporting, and snapshots)?
Administrator access control: Which access rights are needed for the different roles and responsibilities of the administrators?
- Data reduction (that is, data level authorization): Is the user allowed to see all of the data or just parts of it? Qlik Sense uses an app-defined security model, section access, to implement row and field level data security.
The two authorization systems are unconnected and are configured separately, as indicated by the following figure.
