Compatible Operating Systems

In the following documentation:

Recommended: designates an environment recommended by Talend based on experience and customer usage.
Supported: designates a supported environment for use with the listed component or service.
Supported with limitations: designates an environment that is supported by Talend but with certain conditions explained in notes.

The compatible operating systems depend on your version of Talend Studio.

Given that Oracle has a stated compatibility statement for Red Hat RHEL, Talend considers that Oracle Linux is supported, for those versions which correspond to RHEL versions that Talend lists in the User Documentation.

Note: Talend recommends to install Talend Remote Engine on x86-64 processor type. Talend Installer currently only supports Talend Remote Engine on x86-64 processor type.

Remote Engine Gen2

Requirements:

Talend recommends to install Remote Engine Gen2 on x86-64 processor type. Talend Installer currently only supports Remote Engine Gen2 on x86-64 processor type.
Docker environment:
Remote Engine Gen2 runs in a Docker environment and requires the following Docker versions:
- Docker Compose plugin v2.21 and onwards.
  If both binary and plugin are installed, Docker Compose plugin is selected by default.
- Docker 24.x.

Ensure that the operating system you are using for Remote Engine Gen2 is supported by the required Docker versions.

Tip: Experimental operating systems by Docker are not supported.

Talend supports only the operating systems officially supported by Docker, and has tested Remote Engine Gen2 on the following operating systems:

Known limitations:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7 and 8 are experimental on Docker and not officially supported by Remote Engine Gen2.
Remote Engine Gen2 does not support Windows due to its lack of support for Windows with Docker containers. While a Windows archive file is available for download, it only includes a .bat file intended for development purposes.

Statement regarding Virtualization and Docker deployments

Talend supports running on virtual machines and Docker containers. For both Virtualization Systems and Linux based Docker containers, Talend relies on the vendors’ compatibility statements to ensure the correct running and execution of the Talend software.

Talend does not deliver prepackaged Docker Images or Dockerfile for Talend applications.
