Importing EDIFACT specifications

Talend Data Mapper allows you to create structures based on your preferred EDIFACT specification.

Information noteNote: This feature is available only if you have installed the R2021-03 Studio monthly update or a later one delivered by Talend. For more information, check with your administrator.

Before you begin

You have a ZIP file containing an EDIFACT specification.

About this task

Talend Data Mapper supports the import of the UN/EDIFACT specifications available at https://unece.org/trade/uncefact/unedifact/download, starting from the release D.96A. Once a specification has been imported, you can use the structures created to map your EDIFACT files.

Procedure

  1. Expand the Hierarchical Mapper node and right-click Structure, then click New > Structure.
  2. In the wizard that opens, select Import a structure definition and click Next.
  3. Select EDIFACT specifications (zip) and click Next.
  4. Select the file to use:
    • Select an existing resource in your workspace.
    • Import a local file.
    • Enter the URL to the file.
  5. Select the folder in which you want to create the structures, then click Next.
By default, the structures are created in a folder with the name of the ZIP file.
  6. Once the import is finished, click Finish to close the wizard.

Results

New structures are created based on the specification provided. You can now use these structures with any EDIFACT file that follows the specification.
