To build and maintain this capability, you will use an operation to generate usage analytics from the repository database, REST API activity, audit log information and the search indexes.

**Steps**

1. Sign in as a user with at least the [Application Administrator](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/talend-data-catalog/8.1/Content/user-guide/administration-and-system-management/manage-users-and-authentication.htm) [capability global role assignment](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/talend-data-catalog/8.1/Content/user-guide/administration-and-system-management/manage-global-roles.htm).

2. Go to **Manage** > **Repository** in the banner.

3. Right-click on the root (**Repository**) in the **Repository Tree** and select **Operations** > **Export analytics.**

4. Click **RUN OPERATION**.

Information note

You may [schedule this operation](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/talend-data-catalog/8.1/Content/user-guide/administration-and-system-management/manage-schedules.htm) to generate the analytics daily, weekly or any frequency of you choosing.

The results are placed into CSV files which are placed by default in /data/files/mm/analytics/ in the installation folder.
