# Publishing datasets and lineage to Qlik Cloud

Available in...

* Qlik Talend Cloud Enterprise Edition
* Qlik Talend Cloud Premium Edition

Data Integration Jobs published from Talend Studio to Talend Cloud can generate input and output datasets and lineage, which can be sent to Qlik Cloud. In the Catalog page of Qlik Cloud, you can view the lineage of your data that tracks the transformations backwards to the original source.

## Before you begin

* You have a Qlik Talend Cloud Premium Edition or Qlik Talend Cloud Enterprise Edition license.
* You have already configured the connection and authentication from Talend Management Console to Qlik Cloud. For more information, see [Configuring Talend Cloud with Qlik Cloud](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/management-console-user-guide/Cloud/configuring-talend-cloud-with-qlik-cloud).
* The Job to publish reads data from a data source with an input component, transforms the data, and then maps the data to pass it to an output component.
* The components you used in the Job support lineage in Qlik Cloud. For more information, see the list of supported Talend Studio components for lineage in Qlik Cloud in [Enabling lineage collection for Job tasks](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/management-console-user-guide/Cloud/enabling-lineage-collection).

## About this task

Information noteTip: Before publishing your Job to Talend Management Console, you can test lineage generation locally to identify and resolve any issues. For more information, see [Testing lineage locally](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/studio-user-guide/8.0-R2026-09/testing-lineage-locally "Before publishing a Job to Talend Management Console, you can test lineage generation locally in Talend Studio to identify and resolve any lineage issues.").

## Procedure

1. Publish your Job to Talend Cloud. For more information on how to do it, see [Publishing to Talend Cloud](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/studio-user-guide/8.0/publish-jobs).
   ### Example

![Data Integration Job in the design workspace.](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/studio-user-guide/Resources/images/data-lineage-sample-job.png)
2. Edit your Job task in Talend Management Console to enable the lineage collection option. For more information, see [Enabling lineage collection for Job tasks](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/management-console-user-guide/Cloud/enabling-lineage-collection).
3. Run the Job task in Talend Management Console. For more information, see [Executing Job tasks manually](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/management-console-user-guide/Cloud/executing-job-tasks-manually).

During the next run and each subsequent run, the Job artifact generates datasets and lineage to Qlik Cloud.

Information noteNote: The lineage is generated at run time when the task is executed.

## What to do next

You can now open the Catalog page in Qlik Cloud to view the datasets. If you select Lineage for a dataset, you can view the lineage graph of your data, showing the transformations backwards to the original source. For more information, see [Browsing datasets from the Catalog](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/cloud-services/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/DataIntegration/Marketplace/Browsing-datasets-from-catalog.htm) and [Analyzing lineage in Analytics](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/cloud-services/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/Catalog/lineage.htm).

If multiple Job tasks in Talend Management Console publish lineage to the same dataset with Talend Studio 8.0 R2026-08 onwards, the published lineage includes all upstream branches by default instead of keeping only the most recent branch.

In this example, the data lineage graph shows the data transformation from the input datasets STUDENT\_INFO\_G4 and TEACHER\_INFO to the output G4\_ALL. The input datasets are read by the tSnowflakeInput components, transformed by the Data Integration Job DemoLineage\_Step1 and then written by the tSnowflakeOutput component into the Snowflake table.

Information noteNote: A Job artifact can generate datasets and lineage for input and output connectors for files and databases. But as Talend Studio supports a different list of connectors from Qlik Cloud, the support scope of Qlik Cloud will be limited on some operations like Profiling and Preview. For more information, see [Understanding your data with the catalog in Data Integration](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/cloud-services/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/DataIntegration/Catalog/Understanding-data-catalog.htm).

If you don't have a Qlik Talend Cloud Premium Edition or Qlik Talend Cloud Enterprise Edition license, you can clear the Disable Lineage checkbox in the Job Settings view of the Project Settings dialog box to enable the Job lineage option. So that if you switch to a Qlik Talend Cloud Premium Edition or Qlik Talend Cloud Enterprise Edition license, you don't need to republish your Jobs to generate datasets and lineage. ![Job Settings view in the Project Settings dialog box.](https://help.qlik.com/talend/en-US/studio-user-guide/Resources/images/project_settings-job_settings.png)
